Overview

The quaint all-season town of Canmore, Alberta (pop. 16,000) has big city expectations. Once a coal mining town, Canmore gained notoriety during the 1988 Winter Olympics and has been a booming recreational hotspot ever since. Just 70 miles from Calgary, Canmore is nestled in Alberta's Bow Valley, surrounded by mountains and wildlife. It is a perfect location for fishing, climbing, canoeing, and numerous winter sports. Banff National Park is 7.5 miles from the resort and Lake Louise is about an hour away. Canmore has quilters, stained-glass artists, blacksmiths, and galleries. The resort's outdoor pool is heated and open all year. Canmore is a wonderful town offering great restaurants and shops. This four-season area is a haven for golfing, hiking, biking, fishing, horseback riding, rafting, kayaking, downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, and heli-skiing. Explore and hike Banff National Park. Sunshine Village, Lake Louise, and Mount Norquay offer some of North America's greatest skiing.
